Professional Genealogist

Based in Hampshire, England, and working worldwide. Here’s why families trust me to research their past with care and accuracy.

Who Am I?

My name is Ian, and I’m an England-based family historian with a long-standing interest in genealogy and local history. Based in Hampshire, I have worked with all sorts of clients, each of whom had a story to tell. What draws me to this work is a fascination with real lives and stories - not just names and dates, but how families lived, moved, worked, and were shaped by their times. My interest began in my teens after reading about a family historian who discovered an ancestor was King Charles I's executioner in 1649. I found it a compelling story yet assumed my own family’s past would be far too ordinary to harbour anything similar. Years later, I discovered otherwise. A member of my own family, William Juxon - then Bishop of London - stood with Charles I on the scaffold outside the Banqueting House as the king’s final companion, and is famously said to have whispered the word 'Remember' moments before the axe fell. That discovery transformed how I viewed family history and confirmed my belief that every family has a story worth uncovering. I approach every project with care, accuracy, and respect. My research is evidence-led, based on original records, clearly explained, and honest about gaps or uncertainties. I never rely on guesswork or copied online trees. My aim is to help people understand their family history with confidence and clarity.
